In March 2023, Black Isle became a certified B Corp, joining a global community of companies who believe that business is about much more than just accumulating profits – it’s about striving to be a force for good. Since 1998, our commitment to organics, environmental causes and our local community has seen us radically change the ecosystem of our brewery farm. With the help of hundreds of volunteers and local schoolchildren, we have enabled birds, bees and weeds to flourish and we now all enjoy the benefits of a flourishing natural environment.
B Corp accreditation is an important milestone on this journey and provides us with a strong foundation to build on what we've achieved so far, with the help of likeminded businesses from around the world.

In 2021, we carried out our first full company footprint, encompassing the brewery, bars and accommodation. This highlighted several areas in which we can improve our practices, from logistics to commuting methods and packaging.
With the help of Climate Partner, we offset our full carbon footprint each year and have signed up to the SME Climate Commitment, pledging to halve our greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2040.
