Trees for Life are focussed on several projects across the Highlands, all of which have the ultimate aim of supporting biodiversity and restoring an abundant natural environment. From the reintroduction of the Red Squirrel to planting over 2 million native species of trees with the help of volunteers, Trees for Life’s mission is to protect and enhance a natural world which can be enjoyed by all. One-third of all profits made from Treehouse Pale Ale go towards that mission - a case which is close to our own hearts.
At Black Isle, looking after the environment has been at the centre of what we’ve been doing for the last 27 years. On our 130-acre organic farm, we have created new ponds, wetlands and woodland habitats, planted over 7000 trees and given nature space to thrive alongside our biodynamic market garden and flock of Hebridean sheep. We’ve improved our soil health by sowing clover to fix nitrogen from the atmosphere and our livestock provide the fields with plenty of manure - nature’s finest fertiliser.
Having created this oasis in an intensively farmed landscape, we want to do more to share our story and encourage others to take the same path.
